Digital Harbor Foundation is proud to partner with the Maryland Out of School Time and the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) on a new digital badges initiative. The Open Badging Initiative helps employers and educators provide career path-ways for students in technology.

Why Badges?

Skill based badges allow potential employees to demonstrate the skills they have learned to potential employers. Any employer can see the requirements needed to earn a badge and can also see the evidence submitted to earn that badge by the potential employee. These micro-certifications provide transparency insight into what skills an employee is capable of.

Badges

DHF has chosen to focus initially on 4 skill badges for this pilot: WordPress, Soldering, Graphic Design, and JavaScript. Requirements and the application process are now live. Click on each of these images to be taken to the page for the badge.

The Application Process

Each badge has its own set of requirements. There is an application form on each page where you can submit your evidence. If you’re working on the badges and you find that you’re stuck, please feel free to email us for some guidance!
