Join us for Maker Camp this summer!

Digital Harbor Foundation is proud to present, in partnership with Maker Education Initiative, the 2014 Maker Camp!

This summer we will be offering camp experiences focused on 3D Printing and/or Electronics in our Nano Lab (designed for grades 1-5) and our Mega Lab (designed for grades 6-10)

There will be 3 two-week sessions and each session will be held at the Digital Harbor Foundation Tech Center located at 1045 Light Street, just a few blocks from the Inner Harbor.

All of our camps are Pay-What-You-Can.

3D Printing: Bring Your Designs to Life

Mega Lab (designed for grades 6-10) 9 a.m.- 1p.m.

Explore 3D design and learn to turn your ideas into physical objects! 3D printing is one of the best ways to express your imagination! Use a 3D printer and design software to design your own objects such as:

Skills you will learn:

MindCraft
Nano Lab
Grades 3-5, 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.
Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-5, 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.

Minecraft is more than a game – it’s a modeling and 3D printing engine!  Participants utilize the game as modeling software to design and create virtual objects with dynamic attributes. In MinecraftEDU, participants build their crafting skills, explore and prototype possibilities, and improve their designs. Select projects are exported and rendered in real life using 3D printers. A variety of additional modeling software – Tinkercad and Sketchup – are used to build advanced modeling and rendering skills. No prior crafting experience required.  All printed projects go home.

Electronics: Make Your Own Gadgets with Circuits
Mega Lab (designed for grades 6-10) 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Learn to make gadgets and projects that interact with the world around you! Use basic electronics and micro controllers such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and MaKey MaKey to create your own gadgets such as:

Skills you will learn:

Musical Machines
Nano Lab
Grades 3-5, 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.
Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-5, 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.

Invent machines that create rhythms and tones using simple circuits, switches and sensors. Sketch and sculpt prototypes, explore the properties of electricity, and incorporate electronic and mechanical components into unique and amazing musical machines!  No experience necessary, and all projects go home!  Family and friends are invited to the electrical orchestra performance on the final day!
