Mini Makers


Mini Makers is an after-school program focused on introducing young makers to the exciting intersection of art, technology, and making. This program allows elementary-aged youth to explore, build, learn, solve, and most importantly, grow as a maker.

Mini Makers imagine, plan, communicate, then create original projects from stop-motion animation to Minecraft, Scratch-based video games, upcycling, 3D printing, laser-cutting, and more.

Spring 2017 Cycle 1 Courses

Kinetic Chaos

Kinetic Chaos is a fun-filled course where we will be exploring the world of movement. We will be designing and creating various objects that roll, fly, bend, and move, through a variety of methods from cardboard construction to 3D printing. By the end of this course Mini Makers will understand how physics affects the way an object can move.

  • Course Dates: Monday February 13, 2017 – Wednesday March 29, 2017
  • Grade Level: 3rd – 5th
  • Course Schedule:
    • 2 days per week
    • Monday and Wednesday
    • 4pm – 6pm
    • Doors open at 2:45, Free afterschool meal served at 3:15

Intro to Illustration

This is an introductory course in Illustration. We will be exploring the different mediums to create illustrations both by hand and digitally. Youth will become designers and illustrators for not only books but in fashion, playing cards, and more! This course is focused on creating and designing with tangible materials such as pen, pencils, paper, paint, etc. as well as digitally using various programs on the computer or iPad.

  • Course Dates: Tuesday February 14, 2017 – Thursday March 30, 2017
  • Grade Level: 3rd – 5th
  • Course Schedule:
    • 2 days per week
    • Tuesday and Thursday
    • 4pm – 6pm
